Medium Rare Steak Soft Tacos with Jalapeno Cilantro Sauce

Medium Rare Steak Soft Tacos with Jalapeno Cilantro Sauce

We love tacos in this house! I especially love it with some cilantro jalapeno sauce in it. Sour cream is a good addition with the toppings as well:) In this video, I combined pretty much all my favorites: cilantro, jalapeno, avocado and steak. When it comes to steak, it has to be cooked medium rare. I suggest New York strip steak. I love the meat from truLOCAL because they work with the best local farmers here in Ontario. As a mother, it makes me feel better when I know exactly what I’m giving my child. Needless to say I am super excited to collaborate with truLOCAL using their 100% all natural grass-fed beef.

truLOCAL is NOT a farm, but a platform where you can get all the ‘clean’ meat you’re looking for.  They have sausages, nitrite-free bacon, beef, chicken, cod, pork ribs, etc.  Clean meat means NO antibiotics, free run and zero hormones added to it. Did I mention they were in Dragon’s Den?! Watch to see why the co-founders started this platform.

Let’s be honest, it’s not easy to find a grocery store where they have all the antibiotic-free meat that you’re looking for.  Not everybody has time to drive out to the butcher. truLOCAL lets you shop for clean, locally sourced meat products online, and their convenient delivery means fewer trips to the grocery store. That’s a score especially for busy moms out there.

In this video, I’ll show you guys how I made this delicious strip steak tacos. This recipe is mostly chopping and only a few minutes of searing the steak. Watch to see how easy this is. Comment down below how you like your steak and also what’s your favorite taco toppings? Share some of your ideas, I’m always up for suggestions!

Total Time 29 minutes

Ingredients

  • 6-8 Corn tortillas store-bought
  • .420 kg New York strip steak
  • Olive oil

SAUCE

  • 1 Jalapeno
  • 1-2 Garlic cloves
  • 3 Tomatoes roughly chopped
  • 3/4 cup Cilantro roughly chopped
  • 1/2 Lemon or more if needed
  • Salt to taste

TOPPING

  • 1 Avocado
  • 1/2 Red pepper
  • 3/4 cup Ripe mango
  • Red onion
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Lemon
  • Sharp cheddar optional

Instructions

SAUCE - you will need a food processor or a blender or some type

  1. Roughly chop cilantro, tomatoes and jalapeno

  2. In a food processor, combine the garlic, salt, lemon, cilantro, tomatoes, jalapeno. Blend to the consistency of your choice. I like it a bit chunky.

  3. Set aside

TOPPINGS

  1. Chop the following into cubes: Ripe mango, avocado, red pepper, red onion. Add some salt and pepper to taste.

  2. Mix and set aside.

STEAK

  1. Coat the steak with some olive oil and pepper.

  2. Sear the steak over high heat for 2 minutes on each side.

  3. Transfer to a chopping board. Let the meat rest for 5 minutes or so before cutting. This will make for an even tender steak.

TORTILLAS

  1. Using a frying pan, heat the corn tortillas for about 8-10 seconds on each side. No oil needed.

ASSEMBLY

  1. Slice the steak into strips, the thinner the better. You can sprinkle some salt on top if you wish.

  2. On a plate, start with your soft tacos and add the steak. From there, you can add the toppings or the sauce first. I suggest adding the sauce last, so it can spread over the toppings and the steak. Shredded cheese is optional. And voila!
